India – EU Water Partnership workshop: Water & Industry: September 5, (Delhi) and 6, 2016 (Muzaffarnagar)
The Government of India and the European Commission have agreed in March 2016 to establish a India EU Water Partnership (IEWP) .
The objective of this Joint Declaration is to strengthen technological, scientific and management capabilities of India and the EU in the field of water management on the basis of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit.
IEWP organizes workshops, exchange visits in Europe (e.g. on Water Frame work Directive, governance) and is building up a long-term cooperation programme.
For this specific event a multi stakeholder event is planned on September 6 in the Hindon River basin which fits in the lines of IFC, WRG 2030 and IEWP to rejuvenate this region.
Outline of event
- Monday September 5
Round table discussion with Ministry of Water Resources and other relevant stakeholder at premises of CSIR in Delhi to introduce strategic European Technology Platforms, share best practises, ambitions and policies.
- Tuesday September 6
Multi stakeholder meeting at Muzaffarnagar with paper & pulp industry and sugar industry to explore solutions and to define joint cases between EU and India.
- EU Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform (WssTP) and European Innovation Partnership (EIP) on water & Industry.
